Magazine Salesman, 23, Arrested
for Sexual Battery by Sodomy
of Teenage Girl, 13

MANATEE COUNTY, Florida [NMT] -- The Manatee County Sheriff's Office has arrested Wesley Williams, 23, of Greenbelt, Maryland.

Wesley Williams

According to the arrest report, on Jan. 15, 2010, Williams was soliciting magazine subscriptions door-to-door in the unnamed victim's apartment complex in the 3900 block of 75th Street West, Bradenton.

He knocked on the victim's door and the victim, a 13-year-old girl, answered.

Williams and his associate attempted to interest the teenager in a subscription, which the victim declined.

Williams then noticed that the victim had a computer in her living room near the front door and asked if he could come in and use her computer to check his MySpace account.

The girl, who was home alone and who was feeling a bit overwhelmed by the aggressive approach by the two men, reluctantly allowed them in, the report said.

Williams asked the girl if she was gay or"bi" or straight. She said she was straight. He asked her what kind of guy she was into and she said she was not into guys right now because she was concentrating on her school work.

As the two men prepared to leave, Williams asked the other man to wait for him outside.

Once inside alone with the girl, Williams ascertained she was home alone. He asked her what she wanted to do. She told him she didn't want to do anything and that her brother would be home soon, hoping that would make Williams leave.

Williams then grabbed her by her shoulders and pulled her in close to him and put his hand inside the front of her pants and underwear. He then forced her to turn around and face away from him.

At that time he started to kiss and "finger" her. She told him to stop and let her go. The girl said he refused and forced her to bend over and pulled her pants down and inserted his penis in her anus. She then got mad, so he pulled it out.

The two men then left.

Williams was interviewed on Wednesday, Feb. 17th, by Det. Wischer at the Manatee County Jail, where he was being held on unrelated check theft and uttering charges.

He was arrested and charged with Sexual Battery.

As of Thursday afternoon, he remained in the Manatee County Jail with a bail bond.

Cops: Woman Tried To
Throw Bomb At Neighbor;
Had 'Presidential Pardon'

DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Florida [NMT/WKMG] -- Orlando television station WKMG reported a woman tried to throw homemade bombs at her neighbor because she was upset about his use of a computer, police said.

A man called Daytona Beach Shores Police Sunday evening to report that another resident at his condominium complex had pushed him and tried to take his laptop. He told police Marie John told him his room would burn for using the computer.

The man decided not to press charges because he was not in fear of John, 46. John told police people were being murdered over the Internet and computers were not allowed on the property.

Less than an hour later, the man called police back to the Pirate's Cove condos on South Atlantic Avenue. He told police John followed him to the parking lot and attempted to light a rag that was partially stuffed into a beer bottle filled with gasoline.

Police said the man was able to knock the bottle out of John's hand and flee to his condo until police arrived.

Officers said they could smell gas coming from John's condo, where they found two more Molotov Cocktails and a gas can.

John told the officers she was forced to make the bombs because people were being murdered through the Internet and she had received a presidential pardon prior to "pumping the gas," police said.

John was charged with Attempted Murder, Manufacturing a Firebomb and Aggravated Assault, WKMG said.

Grandfather's Gun Discharges in
Struggle After Grandson Throws,
Chokes His Mother

MANATEE COUNTY, Florida [NMT] -- The Manatee County Sheriff's Office has arrested James Lee Swan, 27, of the 6400 block of 12th Avenue East, Bradenton.

James Lee Swan

The victim, Hazel Summerall, 50, is the mother of James Swan.

On Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at about 10 p.m., James was in his sister's room, which is also where her three children sleep, playing a game called World of Warcraft on the computer.

James was apparently drinking a lot of alcohol and when he plays this particular game he gets loud and violent. James was getting extremely loud and Summerall asked him to get off of the game because the children were trying to sleep.

James ignored her request and Summerall entered the room and placed her hand on James’ shoulder. She again asked him to get off of the computer.

At this time, James grabbed Summerall by her hair and threw her onto the bed. James’ son was in the room and James picked him up in a rage and threw him onto the bed, which did not cause any injuries to the boy.

Summerall was able to run to the kitchen to try and call 911 when James grabbed the phone and ripped it off the wall. James then purposefully slammed his head into the kitchen wall causing a large hole in the drywall.

James then grabbed Summerall again and threw her onto the living room floor where he jumped on top of her and started choking her, saying he was going to kill her.

Charles, Summerall’s father and grandfather to James, heard the commotion and tried to stop James, but James continued to choke Summerall causing her to start blacking out. James was yelling that he was going to kill her and him (referring to the grandfather).

Fearing that James was going to kill Summerall (his daughter), Charles went to his room and retrieved a revolver from his closet. He returned to the living room and James grabbed him by the arm causing the firearm to discharge while it was still in the holster.

The projectile struck the living room window and hit the wood frame of the porch. James received what appeared to be a bullet wound behind his left ear lobe where it may have entered his skull, but EMS believed it did not exit. According to all witnesses, only one round was fired.

The battery and shooting occurred in front of 5 small children who live at the residence. The abuse hotline was contacted along with a victim advocate who responded to the scene.

James was transported to Bayfront Medical Center where he refused medical treatment. He came back to Manatee County voluntarily where he was later arrested.

He was charged with Domestic Battery by Strangulation, Child Abuse and Tampering with a Victim.

He remains in the Manatee County Jail in lieu of a $40,000 bail bond.

Upon his arrival, he heard a lot of noise and commotion toward the back of the business. The deputy walked around the front of the business to the side where he thought the commotion was coming from.

Once there, he observed a White male, later identified as Derek, attempt to jump the white privacy fence on the side of the business. Derek paused before jumping the fence to smoke a cigarette he had in his mouth at the time.

Dep. Jacobus shined his flashlight on Derek and saw him from the neck up, getting a good look at him. He ordered Derek to get down and stop where he was, but Derek then jumped over the fence and fled south.

Dep. Jacobus lost sight of him, but tracked with a K-9 unit in an attempt to locate Derek.

While tracking, another deputy notified Dep. Jacobus that he had stopped someone who was seen running through houses in the area.

Dep. Jacobus went to that location, in the 300 block of 50th Avenue West and saw Derek sitting on the ground. He positively identified Derek as the man he saw jump the fence. Derek was bleeding from his hands and sweating profusely.

Deputies put Derek in the back of a patrol cruiser that had a tape recorder placed in the rear. Derek was overheard saying to his girlfriend, who also was in the back seat, "I almost made it the house when they caught me right here."

Man Has Argument with Woman,
Flees Police, Caught by K-9 Unit

MANATEE COUNTY, Florida [NMT] -- The Manatee County Sheriff's Office has arrested Keith A. Holley, 26, following a lengthy foot pursuit by deputies.

Above, Manatee Sheriff's K-9 Vito and Keith A. Holley

A sheriff's report said on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at approximately 3 p.m., Holley and Keishanna Thomas, 26, who are domestically related, got into a physical argument. Thomas said that Holley punched her in the face during the argument. Thomas had a long scratch that went from her left cheek across her face up to her forehead.

Thomas called 911 and Holley fled on foot. He ran out of the back door of their house and jumped the fence into a yard at 514 32nd Avenue East, where he attempted to hide. The resident noticed Holley in his yard and thought he was breaking into his trailer so he went outside with his firearm to find out. Holley had since hidden around the back side of the resident's trailer. The resident, wanting to scare Holley off, fired his gun into the air and Holley fled.

At this time, it was not known if Holley was the person who was armed, so multiple back-up units were then dispatched.

While deputies were responding priority to the location, a dispatcher set up a perimeter from dispatch.

After Holley jumped the rear fence of the yard, he fled east. He then ran to another residence, at 704 32nd Avenue East, and jumped the fence into her back yard. He attempted to jump her back fence, but found a vicious dog on the other side. He then entered her shed that was in the back yard and again attempted to hide.

That resident advised deputies that Holley quickly exited the shed and used her pool pump to jump a side fence. When he did so, a pipe broke on the pump causing pressurized water to flow.

Holley then ran from that yard through a fenced in yard at 3211 8th Street East. Deputies were unable to contact the homeowner of that residence.

He then jumped out of that yard and into another back yard at 3305 8th Street East. He entered a vehicle owned by that resident that was parked in the back and attempted to hide under a blanket.

He was located by deputies after Deputy Petta tracked with K-9 Vito to that location. He was arrested and transported to sheriff's offices.

Photographs were taken of Thomas’ injuries. The injuries were minor and she declined EMS.

Post Miranda, Holley advised that he had been arguing with Thomas. He said that she poked him with a bat and he "lost It." He said he then "mushed her" in the face and when he did his nails scratched her. He also admitted to running from the police, entering a shed, and an unlocked vehicle to hide, but he denied breaking any pipe.

Holley was charged with Domestic Battery, Burglary to a Structure, Burglary to a Conveyance, Trespass and Criminal Mischief.

He remains in the Manatee County Jail in lieu of a bail bond of $28,250.

FDLE Arrests Race Car Driver
Operating a Ponzi Scheme

TALLHASSEE, Florida [NMT] -- The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) today announces the arrest of Henri Zogaib, 36, of Longwood for one count of organized fraud.

Friday’s arrest is the result of a two-year investigation conducted by FDLE, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, and the Daytona Beach Police Department into allegations that Zogaib operated an organized ponzi scheme.

Investigators allege that Zogaib, a Grand-Am race car driver, stole approximately $5.1 million from 19 different victims across the country who had invested their money with Zogaib through his company, Executive Investment Group.

The investigation further revealed that Zogaib would convince potential investors to commit funds to the investment with the promise of large returns.

Zogaib supplied investors with documentation that demonstrated significant financial growth on their investments with the suggestion that the funds be reinvested for further financial gain.

Investors eventually discovered that their money had never been invested and Zogaib had instead taken the money for his own personal use.

Zogaib was booked into the Lake County Jail and is being held on a $100,000 bond.
